The History

How did I become a Behavioral Advisor to both the Humane Society if Livingston County ,MI and Adopt a Pet of Fenton,MI. and dog trainer to pet owners. Well here is how it all started……..

I have always loved dogs, so when I moved to Livingston County Michigan in 1985, I started rescuing and training dogs. I joined the Humane Society of Livingston County (HSLC) and became a foster home for dogs. I served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer. My real love was still fostering/rehabilitating the dogs and I soon became known as the home that could handle the tough cases.

I didn't know my real challenge would come as an Australian Shepherd named "Rosie". She is a dog that we decided to adopt and was probably the worst behaved and wildest dog that I had EVER seen. I started reading all of the dog psychology books, training books and books on how dogs communicate. Rosie

was the reason I attended many classes and training seminars by nationally known trainers (And continue to do so). My daughter showed Rosie in 4H and has a Reserve Grand Champion(2006) and Grand Champion(2005) in obedience.

Training Philosophy

My philosophy is start with one behavior at a time, control and direct the dog to good behavior, then reward the good, and correct the naughty behavior. Remember though, your dog may be acting out due to things in the home that you do not notice.. That’s where I come in .
